The Get in Gear course is offered to drivers who have passed their driving test within the last 12 months. It aims to give them the skills to cope with driving independently and to reduce the chances of being involved in a crash.
1 in 5 newly qualified driver’s crash within 6 months of passing their practical test. This course offers essential training you didn’t know you needed.
Get in Gear is delivered in two parts:
An interactive workshop – a chance to consider how you need to develop to become an even better driver; and to discuss key issues that affect new drivers.
Four hours advance driver training – providing the opportunity to put it all into practice with the help of an Approved Driving Instructor. These are completed as 2 x 2 hour sessions and routes will include:
- Driving on rural roads
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Town driving
How to apply
You must have
- Passed your driving test within the last 12 months.
- Be between 17 and 24 years old
- Live in the Buckinghamshire County Council Local Authority Area
The course is worth £150 but we are offering it at a subsidised price of £30
Once you are accepted onto the scheme you will be invited to attend a workshop with other newly qualified drivers.
